简介：NowYouSeeHim,NowYouDon'tisa1972WaltDisneyProductionsfilmstarringKurtRussellasachemistrystudentwhoaccidentallydiscoversthesecrettoinvisibility.Itisthesequeltothe1969filmTheComputerWoreTennisShoesandwasfollowedby1975'sTheStrongestManintheWorld.NowYouSeeHim,NowYouDon'twasthefirstDisneyfilmtobeshownontelevisioninatwo-hourtimeslot,in1975.PrevioustelevisionshowingsofDisneyfilmshadeithershownthemeditedorsplitintotwoone-hourtimeslots.AtMedfieldCollege,sciencebuffDexterRileyandhisfriends,includingRichardSchuylerandDebbieDawson,eavesdropviaahiddenwalkie-talkieonaboardmeetingledbyDeanEugeneHiggins,discussingthesmallcollege'scontinuingprecariousfinances.Laterthatafternoon,ProfessorLufkinshowsHigginsaroundthesciencelabwhereDexterisworkingonanexperimentwithinvisibilityandanotherstudent,Druffle,explorestheflightofbumblebees.Thatnight,duringapowerfulthunderstorm,theroofofthelabisstruckbylightning,sendingacurrentofelectricitydownametalbeamandthroughDexter'scomplexexperimentcomponents.Thenextday,asDexterexamineshisburntequipmentwithdismay,HigginsmeetswithA.J.Arno,arecentlyreleasedprisoner,whohadalsopurchasedMedfield'smortgage.WhenDexteraccidentallydropsonehalfofhisglassesintoacontainerofhisexperimentalformula,itappearsasifthesubstancedestroysthem,butuponcloserexamination,Dexterrealizestheframesaremerelypartiallyinvisible.Afterseveraltests,Dexterplaceshisfingersintheliquidandtheydisappear.SchuylerandDebbiearriveandarehorrifiedtoseeDexterwithapartialhand,butDexterinsistsSchuylertestthesubstanceaswell,admittingonlyafterwardthathedoesnotyethaveanantidote.Justthen,HigginsbringsArnotovisitthelab,stunningthestudents,asonlytwoyearsearlier,DexterwasinstrumentalinexposingArno'scrookedgamblingscheme.DexterandtheothersnoticethatArnoismoreconcernedwiththecampusarchitecturethanHiggins'speech.CuriousaboutArno'sbehavior,DexterconvincesSchuylertousetheinvisibilityformulatosneakintoArno'sofficethatnight.AlthoughtheyarenearlydiscoveredwhenSchuylerstepsintoapuddle,makinghistennisshoesvisible,theboysgetinsideArno'sofficewheretheyfindamodelofMedfieldCollegeredesignedasasprawlinggamblingestablishment.Aftertakingphotosofthemodel,theboysfleewithDebbie'shelp.ThenextdayDextershowsthephotostoLufkinandHiggins.ConvincedthatDruffle'sbumblebeestudywoulddrawattentionandinvestmentstoMedfield,HigginsreactsangrilywhenDexterassureshimthathisinvisibilityformulacouldwinthetopprizemoneyintheupcomingForsythesciencecontest.NothavingadmittedtoanyonethatMedfieldhasbeendroppedfromthecontestforbeingtooinsignificant,Higginscontactsthecontest'ssponsor,millionaireTimothyForsythe,andagreestomeetoveragameofgolf,despitehisinabilitytoplay.UponlearningofHiggins'planandsuspectingitmustbeconnectedwithraisingmoneyforthecollege,DexterurgesSchuylertovolunteertoserveasHiggins'caddywhile,hiddenbytheinvisibilityformula,hewilltakecontrolofHiggins'golfball.Atthegolfclub,Forsytheandthestateuniversitydean,Collingsgood,areamazedbyHiggins'quirkygolfingabilities,whichincludenumeroushole-in-one-shots,asisArnowhoisalsoattheclub.Afterthegame,ForsytheagreestoreinstateMedfieldintothecompetition.Meanwhile,ArnoaccidentallyseesDexterbecomingvisibleintheclubshowersandgrowssuspicious.WhenthelocaltelevisionnewscoversHiggins'extraordinarygolfgame,heisinvitedtojoinanexclusivetournamentinnearbyOceanCity.Convincedthathewillwinenoughmoneytopaythecollege'smortgage,HigginsbrashlyacceptsandthatafternoondepartswithSchuyler.LearningofthetournamentfromDruffletoolate,DextermissestheplaneandisforcedtowatchthecompetitionontelevisionwhereHiggins'gameagainsttwoprofessionalsisadisaster.Arnoandhishenchmen,CookieandAlfred,alsowatchthetournamentandponderHiggins'oddinconsistency.Uponreturningtothecollege,HigginstellsLufkinthatDruffle'sbumblebeeexperimentistheschool'slastchance.BothmenarestunnedwhenDruffleappearsswathedinbandagesafterbeingattackedbythebumblebees,towhichheisallergic.HopingtoassuagethecrestfallenHiggins,LufkinsuggeststhattheygiveDexter'sunprovenformulaachanceandthedeanreluctantlyagrees.Thatevening,Cookie,disguisedasajanitor,sneaksintothecampuslabwherehewitnessesDexterandSchuylerusingtheinvisibilitysprayandreportstoArno,whoordershimtoreturnandstealit.Thefollowingday,Forsytheandmembersofhiscommitteearriveoncampustojudgethebestscienceexperimentatthecollege.UnawarethattheirspraybottlehasbeenreplacedbyCookie,DexterandSchuylermaketheirpresentationandarestunnedwhenithasnoeffect.ForsytheandHigginsdepartasDexterremainsconfuseduntilhechatswithCharliethejanitor.Learningthatthereisnonightjanitor,DexterrealizesthatCookielikelystoletheformula.ConcludingthatArnomustbebehindthetheft,Dexterplantsawalkie-talkieinhisoffice.Acoupleofdayslater,SchuyleroverhearsArnoplottingwithCookietorobtheMedfieldBankbymakingthemselvesandthemoneyinvisible.CertainthatifhecouldretrievetheformulabeforetheForsytheAwardannouncementthatnighthecouldstillwinthecontest,DextersendsSchuylertothepoliceandgoestoinformthebank'spresident,WilfredSampson.WhenboththepoliceandSampsondismisstheboys'storyaboutinvisibility,Dexterandhisfriendsgatheroutsideofthebank.WhenaninvisibleArnoandCookieknockouttheguardsandtakethemoney,Dexterunsuccessfullytriestouseafirehydranttohosethemendownastheyexitthebank.Sampsoncontactsthepolice,whojointhecollegestudentsinawildchaseofthecardrivenbytheinvisiblerobbers.Afterbrieflyeludingeveryone,ArnoordersCookietomakethecarinvisible,buttheyarespottedonadirtroadinapark.DeducingArnowillnotleavetownbutgotohishomeinstead,DexterdrivesthereandforcesArno'scarintoaswimmingpoolwhereit,themoney,andthemenbecomevisible.Arnoandhishenchmenarearrested.DexterandtheothersdashtothepresentationoftheForsytheAwardandpleadforonemoreopportunitytodemonstratetheirinvention.FrustratedbyDexter'sdetermination,HigginsintervenesjustasDexterspraysSchuyler,and,again,thereisnoresult.Realizingthedipinthepoolhasdilutedtheformula,DextertriestoexplaintoForsythe.JustwhenHigginstellseveryoneforthelasttimethatinvisibilitydoesnotexist,thetophalfofhimbecomesinvisible,thusshockingthegroupandwinningthetopprizetosaveMedfieldforanotheryear.
